Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a fabulous eyeshadow palette at such a great price. This maybelline palette creates gorgeous eyes with ease. The colours are amazing and blend together really well for a professional stunning looking finish. The twelve great colours and metalic finishes give a sexy smokey eye with ease, I can get a natural nude look with this palette or an intense smokey night time look. I adore maybelline and this palette was a gift that I am glad I was given, the packaging is special and the actual colours have great pigmentation. The shadows are fine and glide on smoothly, lasting all day, I always use an eye primer first and this makes the shadow last longer and gives a nice base for the shadow. This is a lovely palette that I highly recommend buying as it gives both a natural or sexy smokey eye with ease

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this for a toned down smokey eye. I have the noises nudes palette aswell and both these are great. It's got a great dark pigment, in a great range of colours. It is definitely one for night time though, as it can be a bit harsh during the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am a long time makeup lover, as anyone who reads my beautycrew reviews or my beauty blog will know, but I am only a very recent convert to eyeshadow which is a little embarrassing, I use every other makeup product under the sun but not eyeshadow, until I came across this little beauty of a palette by Maybelline and now I am hooked on the magic artistry that is eyeshadow and I know I will never turn back now.\n\nI think for my first eyeshadow palette, being named the rock nudes is very fitting for me, a unique name is usually the first thing that grabs my attention as well as pretty packaging and this has both so win win. Of course the next thing a good makeup product needs is a good quality formula and this little eyeshadow palette has that in spades.\n\nI love that the colours are a little bit different than usual, like me, it's not just smokey browns or blacks, it has the most gorgeous blue and gold colours too, as well as a few versatile nudes and the standard browns and black.\n\nSo when I used them the next morning, super excited like a kid in a lolly shop by the way, I did my usual double cleanse, serum, moisturiser and primer, including primer on both eyelids and under the eye, a handy tip if you want your eyeshadow to last for like ne'er than your morning coffee. I decided to do an application of one of the lighter nude colours over the whole eyelid, buffing in thoroughly with my Zoeva shadow brush. Then I applied the blue colour to just up to the crease of my eye, blending like crazy, and under my eye, pushing into my lower lashes like eyeliner and I went over the bottom of the lashes with the sparkly gold colour and voila I was done, each eye only taking about five minutes each. Then it was lashings of mascara, the Loreal false lash effect one, my It cosmetics celebration powder foundation and a light layer of nude lippy and my fancy new look was complete.\n\nI'm not sure if it's because I applied primer all over my eyelids but that shadow stuck to me all day long until my evening cleanse. It stayed bright and looking freshly applied even at four in the afternoon and I needed so little of each colour I used that I'm sure it will last me for ages.\n\nI'm only a recent eyeshadow user but I am hooked now and can't imagine my makeup look without it now. I've already bought the Maybelline rosey nudes eyeshadow palette, which is full of gorgeous pink and nude hues that are perfect every day of the week. When I need a bolder look I use the rock nudes. Both palettes are being lovingly used and experimented with and played with every day of my makeup loving life. \n\nIf you are also not sure that eyeshadow is for you, seems too hard or fiddley or messy, get out and buy this palette, it's super affordable, and have fun playing around with different colours and looks, you will be converted in no time at all and you'll wonder what took you so long. It brings out the true makeup artist in you, because you were born with it, to rock this nude palette.\n

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was happy to see this  Nudes palette with yet another selection of shimmers and mattes, but this time with a greater range of shades that can complement and contrast for a rather more dramatic nude look. With the shimmery grey and gold, the blue and pale amethyst, along with the matte browns and greys, it really does remind me of polished semi-precious stones. The colours are strong without being too intense, so it is a practical choice for daytime wear.\n\nOne thing I like about this palette - and about other Nudes palettes - are the many suggestions on the back for shade combinations in Quads, Trios and Duos. This creates so many different looks, in addition to the ideas you come up with yourself. Of course not all of these looks will work for everyone, but playing around with the colours and finding this out for yourself is part of the fun of a new palette. For this reason, this palette is a great idea for those who aren't used to a lot of eye-makeup, or who aren't very confident with trying different colours. I use a combination of two colours - the shimmery mauve and matte grey for example - for a simple and quick look, or 4-5 colours with the gold or silver shimmer for a dramatic evening look. I use an eye-primer under my eyeshadow, but if I REALLY want to ensure it stays put, then I use a tip I learnt from a make-up artist, and use a concealer over the whole lid, blending it carefully with a beauty blender, then following with a skin-tone shade of shadow (there is one in this palette!), as a base for the colours you will actually see. I usually leave aside the sponge tip applicator that comes with the palette in favour of a brush which does a much better job of blending and then start playing with the colours!\n\nNow to the quality of the shadows. While all the colours are beautiful, the quality varies among the shades. The palest shades can be a little chalky and don't really have a good colour pay-off. When blending "out" there is a danger of blending "away". The darker shades - the blue and matte grey - work much better, and blend out quite well, which makes them more workable and less intense. One solution is to layer the lighter colours over the dark shades, to give them more dimension, and I've found that this works. I don't find that there is much fall-out onto the cheeks after using the shimmer colours, which can be an issue with shimmers, so I was certainly happy about that! Using concealer and a base shadow first may have helped because it certainly stays in place all day.\n\nThe packaging is quite sturdy and clips shut securely. I haven't had any issues with pans becoming loose or dislodged at all. I like the fact you can see the colours through the clear "window", although a mirror in the lid would make the palette more functional and travel-friendly. However it is a super-affordable palette so this is a minor detail.\n\nThis is a very versatile palette with a great range of shades to create looks that can take you from work-ready to night-time glamour in a few minutes!\n\nPros.\nSome lovely colours in there.\nVery affordable price.\nLots of combination suggestions to take away the guess-work!\nA good palette for those who are a little unconfident about trying different shades - it's all here for you.\nSome good contrasting colours to create more dramatic looks.\nMinimal fall-out of shimmer colours.\nReasonably sturdy packaging.\n\nCons.\nSome of the lighter colours have poor pigmentation.\nThe sponge applicator is not the best way to apply the product.\nCould do with a mirror in the palette.\n\n     \n
