I have used this a short time an really like it. But I can’t find how to roll up more of the crayon. Surely. It’s not worth the price if the initial length is all there is.

I have bought 2 of these the last one a month ago at chemist warehouse Mooloolaba. The first one there was no pencil there at all I could see some pencil up the tube but couldn’t get it down. The latest on I can see it but it’s flat against the rim of the pencil is there a trick to using these? I bought intense green and I have bought 2 from you because not many brands make a green. I will send photos of my problem hopefully it will show what’s wrong but I really want to use them please HELP

At first I thought this was a dud as I couldn’t find a way to wind up more pencil.
After a quick google, I found it said the pencil can be sharpened! Goes on so smooth and stays on all day. Very happy with the tattoo eyeliner. An ordinary cosmetics sharpener will sharpen the pencil no probs.

Any poor reviews are due to people not realising this can be sharpened! Yes, you can easily sharpen (with any normal cosmetic sharpener) so it lasts just as long as any other pencil. The formula is fantastic and glides on the eyes, and the colour is rich, this is definitely one of the best eyeliners I have ever used.

Lasts All Day!

I purchased this product yesterday. Put it on at 7.00am today and added a bit of powder eye shadow on top of the liner to set it. It is now 7.45pm and it still as good as it was this morning - no smudging underneath my eyes at all. Best eyeliner I have ever used!!! Haven't tried to sharpen the pencil yet - will see what happens.

Was worried after reading the above reviews as my liner didn't wind up either - but you sharpen it. I did a quick google and the American site clearly states it is sharpenable.

If you are thinking of buying this product, test it first. I'm throwing the one I bought out as it made my eyes sting and water all day. It was so bad that I could barely keep my eyes open.

There is no way to wind up the crayon, no mechanism, the casing is solid plastic!
The product is actually excellent, though it will only last until you wear down the tip as you CANT WIND IT UP!!?? Due to this I cannot recommend this overall product.

Just bought this in black and so far, really pleased.
Its super soft to apply, really pigmented, stays put (even on my waterline) and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes.
I'm surprised it doesnt have better ratings - seems a lot of people don't realise you can just sharpen it. It would be really nice if it came with a sharpener built into the lid.
Due to how soft it is, I think a super sharp winged line is out of the question. But perfect for a smokey eye.

I couldn't figure out how to sharpen these (and I'd bought 8 different colours!), they don't retract like other brands. But I got onto their chatline and it was explained to me that you just use a normal sharpener on what looks like the plastic case, but is in fact a shaprenable PVC case like the outside of a pencil. It worked. So the product is great, but I shouldn't have had to ask! The web site and / or packaging need a picture showing how you sharpen it.

Not happy at all, once I finally got the package off it repeatedly smudged user my eyes all day. I only put it on the lid part of my eye. Now I am stuck with 2 of these and can’t use them. Open to solutions as it was great and easy to apply

I bought this product today for the first time. I prefer a pencil but like the definition and staying power of a liquid/brush liner. This formula is fantastic! Absolutely does not smudge and the dense, creamy smooth formula goes on with ease (which my mature dry skin needs). I chose amethyst for my green eyes and blonde hair rather than black which is way too harsh. Such a joy to find a great colour range that’s not just black or brown!!

Best eye liner I've tried so far

I can't get enough of these eye liners; I have them in different colours and use them mainly on my inner lash line. My eyes can get quite watery, and this is the only pencil I've used on my lower lash line that doesn't budge. Lots of people are saying they can't sharpen these pencils, but that's not true - you just need the right sharpener.
I highly recommend, and may belline continue to produce these wonder liners!

Over the years I have tried different eyeliners but nothing has stayed on within a couple of hours the liner smudged or gone bought this didn't even look at what I had purchased just needed a liner applied it and looked in mirror later expecting to have to reapply was really shocked checked in my bag at what it was as it looked as good as it did when I first applied it will buy other colours now really impressed

I brought a few days ago and really happy with the colour and staying power, but like others couldn't work out how to wind it up as it looks like solid plastic so didn't attempt to sharpen until I came to this page to see how to use it.
*I suggest a change either to the product so you can tell it's a pencil or an obvious direction on the front that shows a pencil sharpener

I’m glad I did my research after reading reviews. This pencil can be sharpened with a normal sharpener. I normally use MFE Aqua Eyes or Smashbox Always on pencil and this rivals them both for a fraction of the cost. The Berry, Amethyst and Black all glide on smooth and last all day. I can’t fault this liner and love the berry colour!

I love most Maybelline products but this is absolutely the most user unfriendly eyeliner I have ever bought. It doesn’t come with a sharpener… okay, fair enough. But how do I extend the product? I googled and eventually resorted to stick a thin make up brush up the back end… and the plastic casing cracked. Straight to the bin.

the product is wrapped in plastic so its only when you get home and unwrap it to find out you can not get more product out of the pencil. And cos it is unwrapped you can't return it.

absolute waste of money

bought this today and after i took the packaging off found out you can’t even wind it up, you are literally paying $10 for a tiny tiny little bit of eyeliner at the top, then half of it snapped off when i was using it lightly, can’t even get my money back now, not happy at all, don’t waste your money like i dud

Wish I’d read the reviews before I bought this. The tip also snapped off of mine after using it once. This has been a problem for a long time it seems! Sharpening it was nye on impossible. The crayon does go all the way through the pencil but there’s no way you can access it. AGAIN a complete waste of money.

Cannot wind up! Broke instantly

After spending half an hour (I kid you not!) trying to remove the packaging, I finally use the eyeliner and the tip snapped off. GUESS WHAT?! There is no way to wind it up so I have only ONE eye-lined. NEVER buying Maybelline again!!!!

The best eyeliner by a long long way. Streaming eyes in strong wind it didn't budge or gap!! I usually get gap on outside corner and it lasted all day til I took it off with remover when it came off easily. Won't be bothering with those expensive liners again. Really pleased with it.

Opened it hoping it would twist. Or feed more through somehow. None of these options are possible. Can't find any solution. So after a couple of applications. It wears down. That's your lot. No more. Do not buy if you don't want a single use throw away makeup. Sorry don't get it !

This eyeliner is very easy to apply. It glides like a dream. No pulling or tugging during application. Colour stays on all day & all I need to do is sharpen the pencil when it gets dull. Price is super affordable. I stock up when I see it on sale at Priceline or Chemist Warehouse.

Hurts my eyes

I have tried this on my upper eye lid and found it would irritate my eyes. They felt gritty and I assumed that the product was wearing off into my eyes. I tried it on my bottom lid hoping that would solve the problem but sadly it didn’t. I’m gutted as I love the idea of this.

Have given this eyeliner many attempts and each time it has smudged to my bottom eyelids
Only lasts for 2-3hrs and it will start smudging to your bottom eyelids
Do not buy this eyeliner as you will end up looking

Glides on easily

Love how it glides on so easily however when I have put it on my eyes become irritated. ...normally Maybelline agrees with me but unfortunately not this product and i bought two of them. Will have to go back to my covergirl eyeliner. .not as soft but no irritation.

Impossible to sharpen! The pencil keeps breaking! I have tried numerous sharpeners and still breaks! You think maybe Kline would change the design after so many bad reviews. Its a shame because the actual pencil works well until it goes blunt, straight in the bin.

Great staying power!

I tested the staying power after having a shower, going out hiking with watery eyes etc and it still stayed on! I have a make-up pencil sharpener I use for this as it needs to be sharpened every few days. Not a big deal like the other reviews are saying.

I have bought this eyeliner twice now, with the same outcome. Goes on great, strong colour and doesn’t smudge easily but as soon as it needs sharpening, the liner no longer works.
Maybelline really need to address this looking at the other reviews.

I've been using deep teal for the past two years and recently noticed a change in formula.
The new ones are not as deeply pigmented and are not as long lasting as before which lasted all day long. Please bring back original formula.
