Great Lash® Waterproof Mascara

I've been using this mascara for close to 20 years! It's a classic beauty staple that I'm never without.\n\nThe mascara coats the lashes nicely and can be built up/ layered for extra thickness/ and a little bit of length. It doesn't clump or smudge. It's not a lengthening mascara, so perfect for an everyday/natural look.\n\nThe waterproof version is also great for summer. I've worn it swimming/ snorkelling without any raccoon eyes (it's good for weddings and funerals too!).\n\nI love the pink and lime packaging too!\n

I have used this mascara for years!!! I randomly bought a different brand as it was on sale so I didnt use great lash for several months. Due to having a toddler at home, I developed pink eye and had to throw away my makeup. Once the pink eye cleared, I once again got great lash because I know how reliable it is. My eyes hurt every time I wear it!! I get flakes in my eyes from the product and it feels like I have an eyelash in my eye all the time. I'm not sure what is going on but I'm very close to switching brands.

I bought Maybelline's "Great Lash Waterproof Hydrofuge" mascara. I was having trouble finding waterproof mascara, so I bought this. Worst mistake ever. It NEVER stays on my lashes. It smears under my eyes and all day long I'm checking to see if I have raccoon eyes! Then it's extremely hard to get off my skin (even with the recommended remover) Maybe if it stayed on my lashes like it does underneath my eyes it would be worth it!
If I train myself not to blink, do you think it would stay on my lashes better?!

This Maybelline New York Great Lash Big® Mascara is one of the must have mascaras. I initially bought this because it was on sale, after using this I was super excited. It doesn’t clump at all and can be easily removed with a eye make remover. I love how pigment it is. It makes my lash look long and thicker. I absolutely love this. I still use this. Highly recommend this Maybelline New York Great Lash Big® Mascara. Such a great product at a very low price. Love how long my lashes look with this.

I will never understand how this mascara has a cult status, or how it has managed to retain it. It makes lashes look really black, yes, but that's about it. It does nothing beyond that - no improved curl, no lengthening, no separating. Lashes look clumpy and ridiculously fake - but not in a 'fake lash' way, but rather a 'too much mascara' way. The brush is fine, but the formula is awful, and I seriously question any makeup artist who claims they use this on a celebrity for red-carpet events.

Every beauty magazine mentions Maybelline Great Lash mascara as one of the best affordable mascaras around so of course I had to snap up a tube for myself. The bright pink tube with the neon green lid is hard to miss and stands out from other products. \n\nThe mascara is easy to apply and coats my lashes in a couple of swipes. It thickens lashes without clumping and and the mascara stays on all day without smudging. This is a basic mascara that I use often because I prefer a more natural look for work/casual outings. \n\nThis is a great affordable mascara to have in your beauty arsenal and I will repurchase. Mascara goes off in like 3 months so you have to get a new tube, it might as well be affordable. \n\nPro \nThickens lashes \nNo smudging \nLasts \nAffordable\n\nCons \nNo lengthening or curling of lashes \n\n

I needed waterproof mascara. This one is just make my eyes like panda all day. Terrible product ever.

I absolutely love this mascara! It's easy to apply, makes my lashes look long and full. It does not budge or flake all day! I have blond eyelashes so I wear the brownish black mascara. I REALLY REALLY wish they would make a brown waterproof mascara. I prefer wearing brown mascara because of my blond eyelashes and pale skin but I like wearing waterproof mascara too. I don't understand why no company makes a brown waterproof mascara. Maybelline, help a girl out please!

I tried this mascara for the first time ever about a year and a half ago and i have been addicted since! My lashes rarely ever hold a curl but with one coat of this they stay up for the whole day or until i wash it off. My lashes look long and super natural. Theres almost never clumps and its just a super smooth formula. It might not for you if you want your lashes to look super dramatic and thick but if you want natural yet dark long lahes i totally reccomend it!

I have used this mascara religiously for nearly 30 years. I stock up heavily whenever I come across my usually hard to find brown/black - so I'm unsure as to when the formula change took place - but this mascara is ruined. It smells like nail polish remover, has been thinned so much that it takes forever to build and has no hold power on the lashes, flaking everywhere. It maybe Maybelline, but it's also now completely and utterly worthless as a mascara.

My ALL TIME favourite mascara. Check most Makeup Artists kit around the world and you will find a Maybelline Mascara in there. It offers a TRUE black which easy coats the lash and offers a dramatic effect. I dont use the brush or application but more a metal comb from Rae Morris and it finishes the lash like never before. I also love that it lasts and lasts without drying out quickly like most mascaras. This is a must have in everyones kit. 

I have used Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara for 45 years. I never had a problem with it, so I never had to try another mascara. Surely, you have changed the formula. The mascara smudges all below my lower eye line. I kept thinking it was the eyeliner I was using, but sure enough, it was the mascara. I tried the mascara without any eyeliner. I am so disappointed! What is the use of waterproof mascara that smudges?

I bought this from the drug store about two months ago, and have only used it a handful of times since. I initially though it was going to be some garbage mascara because it was the cheapest and furthest in the back of the store on the bottom rack, but like I said I rarely use it so I though what the heck. Fast forward to today, I had a full blown anxiety attack, complete with snot running down my face and ugly crying that would put Toby Maguire to shame. I had a constant stream of tears for a solid three minutes in between intermingled sobs and after I had calmed down I was amazed to see my lashes where still perfect. No black smearing or dripping. My lashes weren’t even stuck together. I have half a mind to wear it in a swimming pool because there’s a great chance that that sucker won’t come off. Absolutely outstanding waterproofieness. 12/10 would recommend :)

I don't think you can beat this mascara as your go-to everyday mascara. Apart from the bright musk stick-like appearance which makes it stand out in a haze of beauty products, it works really well. It coats your lashes easily and thoroughly and doesn't flake off onto your face during the day. It gives your lashes a natural appearance. If you need a natural, everyday mascara then this is your product. It is a classic.

I like this mascara very much. It is inexpensive and the brush is of a good size.  Living on the coast l find myself going to the beach a lot in summer, with this Maybelline mascara l can come out do the water with no fear of my mascara bleeding down my face.  It does not clump on my lashes but separates the lashes giving me a clean look all day. It is easily removed with Garnier waterproof eye makeup remover. 

I've been using this mascara for 30yrs. People stop me to ask me what mascara I use. Blackest black Great Lash. I'm so disappointed with the newer wands. I've always used both the curve and straight. However the newer wand doesn't apply the mascara the same. I've literally have kept old wands to use with new mascara. I would pay more to have the mascara the way it was. Totally disappointed with the changes.

I've wore this brand of Maybelline for YEARS. High school, Dating, Wedding, Baby Shower, PTA Meetings, Social Functions, Funerals you name it. It's been there in my corner for all the happy and sad tears. I was a Great Lash Waterproof Very Black Girl faithfully. I happened once last year upon the same product with a curved wand. WOW I loved it. I can't find it waterproof and curved wand anywhere now. WHY?

a good reasonably priced mascara , i like the fact that it stays on all day . although i have some problems with it, it makes my lashes feel kind of spikey and stiff. i did like how water proof it was though , i was able to wear it in the pool for an hour before it wore off. it didnt give me volume it just made my lashes look darker. i think this would be good for someone who prefers a natural eye look.

I am 60 years old and so upset about you discontinuing your Royal Blue mascara. I've been wearing this since I've been 12 years old and always gotten compliments on especially when I wear purple shades please bring it back I have a hard time wearing black and brown mascara it makes my eyes water and itch it wasn't no reason to stop making it and looking at these reviews a lot of people like it

Sooo disappointed that after 40 years of using brown Great Lash Waterproof it is no longer available. I have tried many other types but Great lash waterproof is the only mascara that holds a curl all day in my straight sparse lashes and is truly waterproof! I am a redhead- I can't wear black, it makes my green eyes look hard. Please please bring back dark brown or at least brownish black.

Oily waterproof sunscreen, sweat, humidity, swimming laps, contact lenses, rubbing my eyes.. this one and Lash Discovery are the only mascaras that comfortably survive life in the tropics on a pool/beach day. Is it the most dramatic? No, but its pretty bold, about as bold as you really want with the above conditions. Solid workhorse of my mascara collection. Honestly, it's funeral proof.

This mascara was my first ever mascara I had as a teenager! It is extremely affordable and it does everything you want a mascara to do! Easy to apply, perfect black colour and fashionable. I don’t know how many tubes I went through of this but I can tell you it was a lot! I still have one apart of my collection now! I love Maybelline so much and have so many of their products!

Maybelline New York Great Lash Big Mascara is my preferred mascara firstly because it doesn’t break my budget and I can purchase it just about anywhere from the Pharmacy to a Department Store to the Supermarket.\nI use a light swipe of mascara when I curl my lashes and then build up the volume 2-3 times to give me fuller-looking lashes to define my eyes.  

I purchased this accidentally as I normally use the washable mascara.

I found it didn’t give good coverage & didn’t build up or lengthen my lashes.

It clumps & sticks together & I found it nearly impossible to remove without pulling out my lashes.

I’m a huge fan of the other non-waterproof Maybelline mascara products but this is a big no from me.

This is my everyday mascara that I fall back to when other mascaras disappoint! Its incredibly reliable for me and I find the waterproof version to be pretty much the best inexpensive traditional mascara out there. The wand is one of my favorites to the point where whenever I finish one I clean it off and keep it around for tidying up my brows or lashes!

I have been using Maybellline Great Lash Waterproof mascara in Very Black for over 20 years. I could not live without my little black and pink bottle. It has virtually no clumping and really separates my lashes. I also use this as my base coat along with 2 other Maybelline mascaras and as a finish coat. I also love it in the colors navy and royal blue

I AM ANOTHER LOYAL CUSTOMER WHO ALSO HAS USED THE ROYAL BLUE. BLACK MASCARA MAKES MY EYES LOOK TOO SMALL, BUT THE BLUE MAKES THEM POP! TRIED OTHER BRANDS, NOT THE SAME! I HOPE YOU WILL LISTEN TO ALL THESE LOYAL ROYAL CUSTOMERS BEFORE WE LOSE FAITH THAT MAYBELLINE LISTENS TO ITS CUSTOMERS. WE ARE ALL STILL LOOKING FOR NOW.

Been using this for years & my mom used to wear it too. The price is really nice, so you get what you paid for plus more. I really like the tiny brush because if you want to have a safe, calm look then it gives you the chance to put the right amount on. It also gets the bottom lashes fairly covered too! It's seriously amazing

I miss the blue mascara it was the best i always got so many compliments on it...the best blue ive found.....black is great ..i use it also....it goes on smooth and last all day...we live in a century where everything is changing...so i hope that you bring back blue and make a green....color is in take it from a millennial
