Hypersharp® Wing Liquid Liner

I'm a single parent who had used Mac waterproof liquid liner for 12 years. I need waterproof liner because I go straight from work, to the gym where I do vigorous cardio & want a liner that won't put streaks down my face. Now with my budget, I wanted a liner that didn't cost So much money! I tried Maybelline Ultra liner for the first time, been using it for a week - I love it! I wish I tried it, years ago. It's the 3rd of the cost of the liner that I had been using. Granted, a little of it flakes off after my vigorous workout (2 hours, mostly cardio) & shower - but not much, and it doesn't streak down my face. I just touch it up. This waterproof liner is now my go-to daily eyeliner!

I have used this product for 12 years. It was sold everywhere so easily able to find. Went on smoothly, looked perfect every time! The last 3 tubes have been horrible. The formula has changed and now it clumps up, it does not go on smoothly anymore, pieces of the dried liner flake off (into my eye!), the lid gets stuck to the black insert and then doesn't close well, thus drying out. I used to get complimented everywhere I went for my "perfect" liner. The last several months I've just become insecure about how awful it looks. I usually don't post reviews but hoping you take notice!

For years and years I have sworn by this eyeliner and told everyone I could about how great it is. So when I was getting low I picked some up at the store like always. I went to use it the next day and it was like it was watered down. I threw it away and thought bad batch. Bought a new one that day from a different store and tried it when I got home... Same thing. I then went one more step and bought a new one yesterday from the grocery store and now I am upset. Three bottles of product that is non usable. Why on earth would you change such a great product? I am hoping that you will change it back as this eyeliner has been a staple in my life and now i am struggling to find something to replace it with.

I don't leave my house without this eyeliner. No kidding! It's amazing and I'm so glad my work colleague introduced us! It is the only eyeliner I can apply without making a mess, and I'm always left with flawless results (no thanks to my handiwork, I'm sure). The tip is so sharp and soft so you have COMPLETE control - which means you can create the perfect wing with your desired thickness without stuffing it up! With it, I have mastered the winged look - thin and elegant for everyday at the office, and heavy and stretched out for a night out. I love it and HIGHLY recommend it!\n

I loved this eyeliner. I adored the taupe shade because it lined the eye beautifully giving it a natural looking effect without the harshness like the black and very dark brown. This shade defined the eye without making it look overly made up. Please bring this color back. The black and brown are too close in color and alot of women would prefer the natural beauty of this shade. Please bring this shade back, and also the formula of the orignal ultra liner waterproof liguid eyeliner !
The shades and formula is was set this eyeliner apart from the rest. This was a leader.

I have used Maybelline ultra eye liner waterproof for 20 yrs +. For the past 3 months I have purchased this eyeliner more than usual. Thinking I just got an old batch, because the eyeliner is dry, not highly pigmented and doesn't go on very smooth plus the brush bristles are thin. Very different from the product I have used for years.
After reading several reviews I understand I'm not alone in having the same issues with this "new formula ". So disappointed and dissatisfied with this product. Please change it back to the formula that was easy to apply and wasn't dry .

If the thought of applying liquid eyeliner brings about thoughts of impending doom, then this is the eyeliner is for you! It is so easy to apply with the specially designed tip meaning that you can be assured that you will always get a perfectly crisp wing, no matter your eyeliner skill.  I have also struggled for years to find an eyeliner that doesn’t transfer onto the eyelid throughout the day and can happily say this lasts through anything (sweat, water, tears!).  Given the inexpensiveness of the eyeliner as well, it lasts forever! I wear winged liner every day; rain, hail or shine, and this has lasted me at least 4 months+. I honestly can not think of one downfall of this product and would highly recommend it!\n

the negative reviews re: cracking and peeling are totally true when used as an eyeliner etc. etc. i don't really care

This is the perfect eyeliner to use as a tooth black for SFX/Halloween/Cosplay makeup. Tasteless and non-toxic, dries well on cleaned teeth, and this sucker can stay on your teeth for a full day—even through drinks and meals—until you scrub it off with a toothbrush at night. Have used this on several occasions for to give a sharp-toothed illusion for costumes because prosthetics weren't working with my mouth, and I got compliments on them every time!

I have been using this product for years and always loved it. The last several I have purchased, it's almost like they have hardly any product in them??? One of the main things I always liked was the brush applicator and still do, but if you can't get any product on the brush to put on the eye it's useless. And like some of the other reviews, it seems to crack and come off in bits. I thought maybe I had just purchased some from a batch that wasn't made right, but every one I have purchased lately is the same. Please go back to making it the way you always did!!

Been using this for more than 10 years. Like the fact that it does not smudge around my eye is great. At the end of the day, I just peel off the line. I have very short lashes and I’m unable to use normal mascara or even water proof as it smudges all over me. I use this for my lashes as it dries up fast & smudge proof & hardens over lashes like a plastic layer & easily peels off. My question is do you have the same waterproof formula in one of your mascaras ?. If so, it will be ideal for my short lashes.

Everyone always remembers me because of my eyes. I have used this eyeliner for so many years. I used to even wear it to the beach and could snorkel all day with it still on. Now, I can't get through applying it to one eye before the other runs down my face. It is no longer waterproof. It can't even last long enough to do both eyes. It also makes my eyes water now. There is no way to get a good line anymore either, which I attribute to shorter brush hairs and cheaper ones, as well as a worse formula. This is heartbreaking for me, and the only makeup I wear.

Since I can never find my favorite Maybelline liquid eyeliner, Stiletto, in Brownish Black lately (only Blackish Black), I tried this. Awful! Nothing is worse than a floppy brush when trying to apply liquid eyeliner, and when I went to "soften" what I WAS able to apply, 75% came off! In fairness, I apply liner slightly under and among my lashes. If you drag this liner across your eyelid above your lashes (drag being the operative word here), it might work and the "Dark Brown" color was pretty and not too dark I prefer Stiletto because the brush has just the right "stiffness" (not too much; not too little), the formula has more staying power if you need to slightly smudge it, and the wand is just the right length for control.

I have used this eyeliner for about 7 years previously. I learned everything I know about makeup using this eyeliner! However, with the last few bottles I have bought it has become clear that the formula has been changed. This product is now too watery and requires many coats to even come close to looking normal on your eyelid. The first bottle of the new formula I bought had to be returned to the store, because it was coming up looking like mostly water, and was completely unusable and unacceptable. It also seems like they have reduced the amount of bristles on the applicator brush, making it way too thin to come out looking nice. The bottle I have is going in the garbage, and I'm switching to a better liquid eyeliner brand ASAP.

This product is very easy to apply. The thin, precise tip takes away that apprehensive feeling that you typically experience right before attempting to create that perfect wing! This eyeliner has fantastic staying power, staying put all day and also applies as an intense, pigmented black. I would highly recommend this product - it is wonderful value for money!

Been wearing this for years. Over the last few years the packaging has been falling apart. Every single one I have purchased in
the last 5 or 6 years has become an utter
mess. The inside of the container comes apart. This happened the other day and the entire interior part came out when I opened it - liquid eyeliner went everywhere. It was a horrible mess :/
I noticed this problem began when they stopped putting a separate cap on the bottle with the wand placed next to the bottle in the package.
And what happened to the “Slate” color??

I’m not sure what happened to this product, but it is a disaster!
The bottle that it comes in is now so cheap, that when you open the product, the inside portion of the container comes out and creates a giant mess (not to mention that it wastes a good portion of the actual eyeliner).
Black seems to be the only color available these days – the lighter colors would be welcomed back by many.
And the texture seems to have changed. It is very flaky. It seems nearly impossible to create a clean line along the lashes (perhaps that has to do with the poorly designed bottle?). It always seems to look clumpy.
The eyeliner used to be sold with a cap and the brush/cap on the side…about the time the packaging changed is when I noticed a huge decline in quality.

I've been using your waterproof liner for years. But you've clearly changed the formula. Like other unhappy posters -- who outnumber fans of this liner, you will notice-- I also found that once it dries, it starts to flake and is nearly impossible to take off. I've tried Clinique, Trish McEvoy and Lancôme removers as well as coconut oil and baby shampoo. I threw out three tubes thinking they must be old, but the new ones-- brown and black -- are even worse. You keep saying the formula is unchanged but dozens of us beg to differ.

For years this has been my go to eyeliner. Unfortunately the last few times I’ve purchased it seems as though the formula changed. It is now watery - less coverage. I have to go over the line several times when previously once was sufficient. I recently came an old tube in a travel bag (same product but the tube was white, not gray so that tells you it was probably 15 years old) and it was still vibrant and you only needed to draw one line! The old one worked better than a brand new tube. I will be looking for a new eyeliner.

This is the ONLY, and I repeat, ONLY liquid liner I use now! With this liquid eyeliner, the colour payoff is so pigmented, lasts for so long and doesn't transfers over to my top lid (which what happens when you have oily lids). No slipping and sliding with this bad boy! It is so easy to achieve a winged eyeliner with this tool as well! 

the least frustrating eyeliner you will ever use! the tip is so thin you don't end up creating an entirely black eyelid trying to fix any boo-boo'sdries so quick can bet your $$ you wont blink and ruin all your hard work..when im lazy and haven't washed my makeup off it is always exactly in the same spot it was the night before

I have gone through 3 of these and it is great. Affordable, decently long lasting, and suitable to provide a sharp winged cat-eye look.\nI used the Dior Addict liner for a long timer, however, this liner is almost a dupe for it, and is much more affordable.\nIt is also easy to apply therefore I recommend this for beginners who are starting out with liquid liners.\nThe only downside is that overtime, it may potentially smudge, but even then it is very easily fixable. It lasts almost all day and only on extremely long days, where you are out very early in the morning till very late at night, is when it smudges.\nTip: application is made much easier when the wing is drawn first. I recommend drawing the wing before doing the crease line/eyelid area.\nHighly recommend\n\n

Best. Eyeliner. Period!! This is the only liner that I ever want to use. This liner has got to be the most fool proof liner on the market! You can create a really simple thin line or a dramatic wing, whichever suits your preferences. I find that this liner takes forever to run out and stays really black on the eye. 

I have gone to 10 different stores, from dept. stores to pharmacies and each one I buy come out clumped. I've opened close to 35 packages and still can't find one that is smooth. I thought it might have been discontinued. I've used it for many years and hate all the others I've tried. I feel helpless trying to find something with a brush that can do the job this one does. It is my go to in everything, especially halloween. If I find a working formula, I would rate 5 stars and recommend as I always have.

I have used this product for years without issues. But as of the last 3 or 4 purchases it has been problematic and doesn't last very long. This time the entire insert came out. How does that happen. I think they need to readdress this product. For all the people who like to use it improve the quality back to where it was. Or date it so we can see if it has been on the shelf too long and we can avoid buying it. The stores will not take it back once it is use obviously. So, we are just wasting our money.

Reading all these reviews, I would never have bought another bottle of this liner. I’ve used this for years. Something happened to the last 2 bottles I purchased. I thought maybe something was wrong with the first bottle, so I bought a second. Both were the same, flaking off after a short time. I loved it because of the fine brush and waterproof factor. After a couple of hours, you could actually peel it off because it left gaps. Don’t know what happened to your formula, but not the same.

I've used this liner for years and felt it was the best liner on the market. Then, for some unknown reason, they decided to change the formula. Now it goes on clumpy, flakes off, and, well, let me just say it makes everyday a bad makeup day! It's worse than awful.

Like an idiot, I've purchased several new tubes because I thought perhaps the others were out dated. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. This formula is awful. Please, please, please, return to the old formula!

I've been wanting a smug and water proof eyeliner and decided to go with Maybelline. I bought both the black and brown shades and tried them both out for several days. I did a swatch test and yes, they are both smug and water resistant; however, the liner cracks while on the eyelid if slightly tugged and will flake off all over the place if you are not careful. It was also really hard to remove in my opinion. This was even with the waterproof eye makeup remover Maybelline offers. Thank goodness my drugstore takes makeup returns! I returned the makeup today for a full refund and will not be purchasing it again. Despite not liking the liquid liner formula, I did like the precision brush and recommend Maybelline continue to use that style for future products. Just give us girls a non-flaky liner to go with it. :)

I had used this eyeliner for many years, and loved the grey - it was not so harsh as the darker colors, and I never had a problem with it. Now the only options are brown or black, both of which are too dark, and it doesn't work as well. Plus, it flakes/peels off frequently when mascara is applied. I had stocked up on the grey when it started disappearing from stores, but eventually had to settle for brown for my last purchase(s). Now I need to find a different eyeliner.

I have been using the product for a few years. Same exact one. Same color, same place to buy. I bought one and thought it was defective because it was super super shiny, it peeled off, I had to scrape it off my eyes to come off. Just not the same thing at all. I bought two more bottles and they were all the same. I've painted my skin with acrylic paint before, with arts or with kids arts and the eyeliner felt and looked exactly the same as the acrylic paint. What gives?
